For the past several years Joyce Meyer Ministries has held these conferences at Lakewood Church. "We love coming to Houston each year. The people there are so wonderful," said Erin Cluley, a spokesperson for Joyce Meyer Ministries.
Joyce will be back at Lakewood preaching on the 1st and 2nd of February next year.
While Joyce Meyer is always a headline story, there was another story from the conference that also deserves to be in the spotlight. That is the story of 17 year-old Mariah Houghton.
Mariah started formulating the idea for Bella's Blankets when she was around nine or ten years-old. Now you might wonder who Bella is, well it is not a person necessarily. Bella means beautiful. Mariah says "the act of giving blankets [to the needy] is beautiful." Although the idea for Bella's Blankets started to unfold within Mariah's spirit back when she was much younger, it wasn't until January of 2010 Bella's Blankets held its first event, an event hosted by The429, a campus of Grace Church.
Bella's Blankets was supported by Multiply Hope an outreach of Joyce Meyer Ministries Conference that benefits the local area by mobilizing conference attendees to help bless the community through a local ministry. Conference attendees were encouraged by Joyce Meyer Ministries to “bring a blanket or warm gloves" with them to the conference. Houston responded.
Through Multiply Hope, everything from diapers and wipes to washcloths and toiletries are donated throughout the weekend at every Joyce Meyer conference in the United States. For more information about Joyce Meyer Ministries visit www.joycemeyer.org.
